New Year | New You | No Way

Happy New Year!

I know it's a bit belated, but I want to send you good wishes for 2022. After the last two years, we all need some good stuff to look forward to.

I hope you have had a great start to the New Year, whatever that means for you. I eased in gently to January and feel like I have so much more energy now because of that.

Can I just mention 'New Year New You', you've probably seen those words everywhere since early November. Drives me mad.

In case you are wondering, I don't buy into that phrase. I always think it implies that nothing in your life is working, it's all a bit broken and you've got to make multiple changes in order to achieve any kind of New Year happiness.

Maybe you do need masses of change, but probably you don't - only you know what you need and want - (as long as you are being honest with yourself).

My New Year phrases would include these:

Change if you want, don't if you don't (although later I'm going to mention getting out of your Comfort Zone, what do you expect I'm a Coach, ha!)

Don't rush to make promises to yourself or others that you can't keep ie keep any goals realistic

Go with the baby steps rather than the gigantic leaps - so much more sustainable and therefore enjoyable

Ask yourself why you want to make a change (and the answer can't be because I 'should')

Life right now may still feel a bit uncertain and at times it really feels like the wheels are coming off the bus.

Often feels to me that the outside world is mirroring what we are feeling in our midlife mind and bodies. I often hear potential clients say "I don't feel like myself anymore, I just want to get back to my old self."

At our stage of life, we have got so much experience to give and so much to enjoy but this hemmed in life that we have been used to, has made us all a bit hesitant and sometimes I have to say, complacent.

The last two years have brought masses of anxiety, uncertainty and a general sense of unease and for many of us there are still lots of things that are up in the air.

Despite me saying earlier don't make changes if you don't want to, I also want you to think about whether you should stay under your Winter Comfort Blanket for too much longer.

Time is not standing still and it isn't going to wait for anybody so you have got to start peeping out from under the blanket and having a bit of an explore.

You may have things that you want to do and places you want to go but you are not sure whether to even think about those things yet. And it feels safer not to think about them, either because it's too difficult to contemplate or because it all feels like too much of a faff right now.

I definitely think that it's time to start to create a bit of a road map for yourself, planning out where you want to go and what you want to do. If you need to make a diversion no problem, you've had so much practice in making last minute changes in the last 2 years, and at least you will still know where you are headed.

This month, I have been involved in an Instagram Challenge called #findyourjanuaryjoy and each business had to come up with an offer for our Instagram followers.

Part 1 of my offer was 22 Life Questions so that people could ask themselves the right questions either when making big decisions (you know by now I much I love a good question!) or thinking about general life stuff.

These questions would be really useful when thinking about your road map - asking yourself Why? about anything is powerful and can get to the heart of what you really feel. Just knowing that you are on track with a set of questions makes it easier.

If you would like the questions then go here to sign up to my mailing list and I will get them right over to you.

During February, I am going to be posting a daily Midlife Instagram tip - covering all kinds of stuff that I believe could be of use to you.

If you don't yet follow me on Instagram and you want to, then here I am.

Part 2 of my offer is 20% discount for any of my coaching or brainstorming packages. This could come in handy if you have been answering the 22 questions and now realise you have even more questions and need a bit of help and support to find the answers. If so, please get in touch and we can talk it through and decide which of the packages would be right for you. In order to get the discount, all packages need to be paid in full before 15th February, but sessions can be taken at any time. For now, thanks so much for reading and let me know how you get on with the questions!
